MCCB Price in Pakistan 2026: Schneider, Terasaki, Mora

Schneider NSX250 3P MCCB from HN Electric

When the load is too big for a miniature circuit breaker, you need a moulded case circuit breaker (MCCB). MCCBs protect main incoming supplies of large homes, plazas, factories, generator and solar panels, typically from 100A up to 630A and beyond. Because an MCCB sits at the top of the electrical system, choosing the correct type and rating is critical.

This guide covers current MCCB prices in Pakistan at HN Electric, Lahore, the main MCCB types, and how to choose one for AC panels and solar systems.

Prices are taken from hnelectric.pk product pages in October 2026. For products with several ratings, the price shown is the starting price. Confirm the exact variant price on the product page.

What Is an MCCB?

An MCCB is a circuit breaker housed in a moulded insulating case. Like an MCB it offers overload (thermal) and short-circuit (magnetic) protection, but it handles much higher currents and fault levels. Key differences from an MCB:

  • Current range: MCBs usually stop at 63A or 125A. MCCBs go from about 16A to 1600A.
  • Breaking capacity: MCCBs interrupt far higher fault currents (often 25kA to 50kA or more).
  • Adjustable trip settings: many MCCBs let you adjust the overload setting to match the actual load.
  • Mounting: MCCBs are bolted into panels with cable lugs or busbars rather than clipped onto a DIN rail.

Types of MCCBs

By Pole Configuration

  • 2-Pole (2P): used for single-phase supplies and, very commonly, for solar DC circuits (positive and negative).
  • 3-Pole (3P): standard for three-phase supplies where the neutral is not switched.
  • 4-Pole (4P): switches all three phases plus neutral. Preferred where generator and WAPDA supplies share a neutral, or where regulations require neutral isolation.

By Trip Unit

  • Fixed thermal-magnetic: trip settings are factory set. Economical and simple.
  • Adjustable thermal-magnetic: overload setting can be set, for example, between 0.7 and 1.0 of the rated current. Useful when the actual load is lower than the frame size.
  • Electronic trip units: found in premium ranges, giving precise and more flexible protection.

AC MCCB vs DC MCCB

This is the most important distinction for solar users. DC current does not cross zero like AC, so the arc is much harder to extinguish. A DC MCCB is specially designed and polarity-marked for battery and PV circuits. Never use an AC MCCB on a battery bank or PV string. For a detailed comparison, read our article 2-pole DC MCB vs DC MCCB and our note on copper contact DC MCCBs.

MCCB vs Disconnector Switch

Some products are listed as “MCCB disconnector switch”. Check whether you need protection (automatic tripping on overload and short circuit) or only isolation (manual on/off). A main incomer always needs proper protection.

How to Choose the Right MCCB

  1. Calculate the load current. For three-phase: I = P / (1.732 × 400 × power factor). A 100 kW load at 0.9 PF draws about 160A, so a 200A or 250A MCCB is suitable.
  2. Check cable size. The MCCB must protect the cable. Do not install a 400A breaker on cable rated for 250A.
  3. Breaking capacity. Close to large transformers, fault levels are high, so choose a higher kA rating.
  4. Pole count. 3P or 4P for AC panels, 2P DC for solar and batteries.
  5. Brand and genuineness. Schneider and Terasaki are trusted for main panels. Mora offers economical options, especially for solar DC.

Where MCCBs Are Used

  • Main incomers of houses with three-phase connections and multiple ACs
  • Plazas, hospitals, schools and factories
  • Generator and changeover panels (often with an ATS or changeover switch)
  • Solar battery banks and inverter DC input
  • Industrial motor control panels with magnetic contactors

Installation and Maintenance Tips

  • Use correctly sized cable lugs and torque the terminals to the manufacturer’s value. Loose lugs are the most common cause of burnt MCCBs.
  • Keep the panel clean and ventilated. Heat reduces the breaker’s capacity.
  • Operate the MCCB manually a few times a year so the mechanism does not stick.
  • Have a qualified electrician install and test any MCCB.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the price of an MCCB in Pakistan?

At HN Electric, MCCB prices in October 2026 range from Rs 3,299 for a Mora 125A 2P DC MCCB to Rs 62,999 for a Schneider NSX400F 4P 400A MCCB, depending on brand, rating and poles.

What is the difference between an MCB and an MCCB?

An MCB is a small DIN-rail breaker usually up to 63A or 125A. An MCCB handles higher currents (up to 630A and beyond), has higher breaking capacity and often adjustable trip settings.

Can I use an AC MCCB for solar?

Not on the DC side. Battery and PV circuits need a DC-rated MCCB, such as the Mora 2P DC MCCBs, because DC arcs are harder to break.

Should I buy a 3-pole or 4-pole MCCB?

Use 3P where the neutral does not need switching. Use 4P where the neutral must be isolated, for example in generator changeover systems.

Which MCCB brand is best in Pakistan?

Schneider and Terasaki are widely trusted for main panels and industrial use. Mora is a popular economical choice, especially for solar DC MCCBs.
