Description

Mora 2P AC MCB Circuit Breaker C Type is a two-pole miniature circuit breaker for compatible single-phase AC distribution circuits. Available in 20A, 32A and 63A options, it is designed to provide overload and short-circuit protection when correctly selected and installed. Its linked two-pole operation can disconnect both conductors together, making it suitable for organized protection in residential, commercial and workshop distribution boards.

Mora 2P AC MCB Circuit Breaker C Type Features

  • Two-pole configuration: coordinated switching of both poles in a compatible single-phase circuit.
  • 20A, 32A and 63A choices: select the option that matches the circuit load, cable capacity and electrical design.
  • C-type trip characteristic: commonly considered for circuits with moderate starting current, subject to proper engineering checks.
  • Overload and short-circuit protection: helps protect correctly sized wiring against overcurrent faults.
  • DIN-rail installation: designed for compatible distribution boxes and electrical enclosures.

Choose the Correct Current Rating

The breaker rating must never be selected from appliance wattage alone. A qualified electrician should calculate the design current and confirm the conductor size, installation method, ambient temperature, cable grouping, voltage drop and disconnection requirements. The selected rating must protect the cable while allowing the connected equipment to operate normally.

The 20A option may suit a correctly designed lower-current circuit, while 32A and 63A versions are intended for progressively larger compatible loads and conductors. These examples are not universal recommendations. Always verify the exact current rating on the product option and label before installation. Browse our full circuit breaker collection if your project needs a different pole configuration or rating.

What Does C Type Mean?

A C-curve MCB is commonly used where equipment can draw a moderate inrush current during startup, such as selected motors, pumps, fans, air conditioners or other inductive loads. However, the trip curve must be coordinated with the actual load characteristics, cable impedance and prospective fault current. Choosing C type simply because equipment contains a motor is not enough; the electrician must confirm that the protective device will still disconnect safely within the required time.

Suitable Applications

The Mora 2P AC MCB can be considered for compatible home circuits, shops, offices, workshops, sub-distribution boards and selected equipment circuits. It may also be used on the AC side of a compatible solar installation when the inverter manufacturer and electrical design specify the correct voltage, current rating, trip characteristic and pole arrangement.

For a secure and tidy installation, use a correctly sized enclosure from our distribution boxes range. The enclosure should provide suitable DIN-rail space, cable routing, ventilation and protection against accidental contact.

Important Specification Checks Before Buying

Confirm the printed label on the actual breaker for rated voltage, rated current, breaking capacity, trip curve, terminal details and applicable standard. The breaker’s verified breaking capacity must be greater than the prospective short-circuit current at the installation point. Also check whether the device and system arrangement are suitable for switching the neutral conductor under the applicable wiring rules.

Upstream and downstream protective devices should be coordinated to improve selectivity and avoid unnecessary shutdown of the entire installation. If surge protection is required, an MCB alone is not sufficient; see our range of SPDs and surge protection devices.

MCB Does Not Replace RCCB Protection

This MCB is intended for overcurrent protection. It does not by itself provide earth-leakage or residual-current protection. Where protection against electric shock or leakage current is required, a correctly selected RCCB or RCBO should form part of the system. The earthing arrangement and local electrical requirements must also be considered.

Professional Installation and Maintenance

Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician after the supply has been safely isolated and verified dead. The installer should follow the line and load markings, prepare conductors correctly, use compatible cable sizes and tighten terminals to the manufacturer’s specified torque. Loose or poorly terminated connections can overheat and cause equipment damage or fire.

After installation, the circuit should be labelled, inspected and tested. Periodic checks should look for unusual heat, discoloration, loose terminals, damaged insulation or repeated tripping. Never replace the breaker with a higher current rating merely to stop nuisance trips; first identify the overload, fault or selection issue.

Mora 2P AC MCB Circuit Breaker C Type FAQs

Which current ratings are available?

The Mora 2P AC MCB Circuit Breaker C Type listing offers 20A, 32A and 63A variants. Select the rating only after checking circuit design current, conductor capacity and installation conditions.

Can this MCB protect against electric shock?

No. An MCB primarily provides overload and short-circuit protection. Use a correctly selected RCCB or RCBO where residual-current protection is required.

Can it be installed on a solar system?

It may be considered only on a compatible AC circuit where the inverter documentation and electrical design specify a suitable AC breaker. It must never be used as a substitute for a correctly rated DC breaker on a solar DC string.
