MCB Price in Pakistan 2026: Schneider, LS, Mora, Tomzn and More

CASMO INDIGO MCB miniature circuit breaker

The miniature circuit breaker (MCB) is the most important safety device in any distribution board. It cuts the supply when a circuit is overloaded or short-circuited, protecting your wiring and appliances from fire. In Pakistan, where voltage swings and heavy AC loads are common, choosing a genuine MCB with the right rating really matters.

This guide lists the current MCB prices in Pakistan at HN Electric (Lahore), explains poles, amp ratings and trip curves, and helps you pick the right breaker for homes, shops and solar systems.

What Is an MCB and How Does It Work?

An MCB has two protection mechanisms inside:

  • Thermal trip: a bimetal strip bends when current stays above the rating for too long (overload), and the breaker trips.
  • Magnetic trip: a coil trips the breaker instantly when a very high current flows (short circuit).

Unlike a fuse, an MCB can simply be switched back on after you fix the fault.

How to Choose the Right MCB

1. Number of Poles

  • 1P: one phase conductor. Standard for individual room circuits in homes.
  • 2P (1P+N): switches phase and neutral. Good as a main breaker in single-phase homes and for AC circuits.
  • 3P: three-phase loads such as motors.
  • 4P (3P+N): three-phase mains with neutral, used as the main breaker in three-phase homes and shops.

2. Amp Rating

The MCB protects the wire, so match it to the cable size and the load:

CircuitTypical MCB
Lights6A–10A
Sockets / fans16A–20A
1–1.5 ton AC16A–20A (2P recommended)
2 ton AC / water heater25A–32A
Main breaker, single-phase house40A–63A

Always confirm the cable size with your electrician. A large breaker on a thin wire is a fire risk.

3. Trip Curve (B, C or D)

  • B curve: trips at 3–5× rated current. Lighting and resistive loads.
  • C curve: trips at 5–10× rated current. The most common choice for homes in Pakistan because it tolerates the inrush of ACs, fridges and motors.
  • D curve: trips at 10–20× rated current. Heavy motors and transformers.

4. Breaking Capacity (kA)

Breaking capacity is the largest fault current the MCB can safely interrupt. 6kA is common for homes, while 10kA (for example, the Schneider iC60N 10kA) is better for commercial boards close to a transformer.

AC MCB vs DC MCB: Do Not Mix Them Up

Solar panels produce DC, and DC arcs are much harder to extinguish than AC arcs. An ordinary AC MCB on the PV side can fail to break the arc and catch fire. For solar strings and batteries, always use DC-rated breakers such as the Mora 2P DC 1000V Solar MCB.

MCB vs MCCB vs RCCB

  • MCB: up to about 125A, for final circuits and small mains.
  • MCCB (moulded case circuit breaker): higher currents (100A–630A and more) with adjustable settings, for buildings and industry. See our MCCB range.
  • RCCB / earth leakage breaker: protects people from electric shock by detecting leakage current. It does not replace an MCB; use both. See our earth leakage breakers.

How to Spot a Fake MCB

  1. Price far below market for a big brand is a red flag.
  2. Weight: genuine MCBs feel solid. Fakes are noticeably lighter.
  3. Printing: blurred logos, spelling mistakes and missing standards marks (IEC 60898) are warning signs.
  4. Terminal screws: cheap, soft screws strip easily.
  5. Buy from a trusted seller that offers Cash on Delivery so you can check the product first.

Building a Safe Distribution Board

A good home DB usually has a main 2P or 4P breaker, an RCCB, individual MCBs for each circuit, and an SPD for surge protection. Mount everything in a quality distribution box and add an SPD. Our home DB box setup and wiring safety guide walks through a full layout.
