RCCB Price in Pakistan 2026: Earth Leakage Breakers

Mora 2P RCCB 63A – Residual Current Circuit Breaker with Earth Leakage Protection

Every year in Pakistan, people are injured or killed by electric shock from a faulty water motor, a wet washing machine, a damaged geyser element or a cracked switch during monsoon. An ordinary MCB does not protect people from these shocks, because the leakage current is far too small to trip it. That job belongs to the RCCB (residual current circuit breaker), also called an earth leakage circuit breaker (ELCB).

This guide lists the current RCCB prices in Pakistan at HN Electric, Lahore, explains how they work, and helps you choose the right one.

Prices are taken from hnelectric.pk product pages in October 2026. For products with several ratings, the price shown is the starting price. Confirm the exact variant on the product page.

What Is an RCCB and How Does It Work?

An RCCB compares the current flowing out on the phase wire with the current returning on the neutral. In a healthy circuit they are equal. If some current leaks to earth, through a person’s body or a damaged appliance body, the two values differ. When this difference reaches the RCCB’s sensitivity (for example 30 mA), the RCCB trips within a fraction of a second.

RCCB vs MCB vs RCBO

  • MCB: protects wiring from overload and short circuit. Does not protect people from shock.
  • RCCB: protects people from earth leakage and shock. Does not protect against overload, so it must be used together with an MCB.
  • RCBO: an RCCB and MCB combined in one device. Ideal when you want individual leakage protection for one circuit, such as a geyser or water pump.

Understanding RCCB Ratings

Sensitivity (mA)

  • 30 mA: the standard for protecting people. Use this for homes, bathrooms, kitchens, water pumps and outdoor sockets.
  • 100 mA / 300 mA: used for fire protection at a main incomer or in commercial buildings, often upstream of 30 mA devices.

Current Rating (A)

The rated current (for example 40A or 63A) is the maximum continuous current the RCCB can carry. It must be equal to or higher than the MCB protecting it. A 63A RCCB is a safe, common choice for most homes.

Poles

  • 2-pole: for single-phase homes and shops (phase + neutral).
  • 4-pole: for three-phase connections (three phases + neutral).

Type AC and Type A

Type AC detects normal AC leakage. Type A also detects pulsating DC leakage, which can occur with inverter ACs, washing machines and other electronic loads. Check the product specifications for the type.

How to Choose the Right RCCB

  1. Single phase or three phase? Choose 2P or 4P accordingly.
  2. Current rating: at least equal to your main MCB, typically 40A or 63A.
  3. Sensitivity: 30 mA for personal protection.
  4. Whole house or per circuit? One RCCB can protect the whole house, but a single leaking appliance will then switch everything off. Many electricians split circuits: one RCCB for wet areas (bathrooms, kitchen, pump) and MCBs only for lights.
  5. Brand: ABB, Schneider and Legrand are premium. Mora, Casmo and Green Power are economical options.

Installation Tips

  • Install the RCCB after the main breaker in the distribution box, followed by the MCBs for each circuit.
  • The neutral must pass through the RCCB. If any neutral from a protected circuit is connected to another neutral bar, the RCCB will trip randomly.
  • Earthing is essential. An RCCB works best with a proper earth wire to every metal-bodied appliance.
  • Press the Test (T) button once a month. If it does not trip, replace the RCCB.
  • Hire a qualified electrician for installation.

Why Does My RCCB Keep Tripping?

Frequent tripping usually means the RCCB is doing its job. Common causes in Pakistani homes:

  • Moisture in switchboards or outdoor sockets during the monsoon
  • A damaged geyser element or water motor winding
  • Old wiring with weak insulation
  • Mixed neutrals between circuits

Switch off MCBs one by one to find the faulty circuit, then have it repaired. Never bypass the RCCB.

Why Buy from HN Electric?

HN Electric in Lahore supplies genuine RCCBs, RCBOs, MCBs and complete circuit breakers with delivery across Pakistan and Cash on Delivery.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the price of an RCCB in Pakistan?

At HN Electric (October 2026), RCCB and earth leakage breaker prices start from Rs 1,399 (Green Power 4P 63A) and go up to about Rs 3,699 for Legrand, depending on brand, poles and rating.

Is ELCB the same as RCCB?

In everyday Pakistani use, yes. Both terms refer to a breaker that trips on earth leakage. Modern devices are current-operated RCCBs.

Which RCCB is best for a home?

A 2-pole 63A, 30 mA RCCB is suitable for most single-phase homes. Three-phase homes need a 4-pole RCCB.

Do I still need an MCB if I install an RCCB?

Yes. An RCCB does not protect against overload or short circuit. Use MCBs with it, or choose an RCBO, which combines both.

Why should I install an RCCB on my water pump and geyser?

These appliances combine water and electricity. A leaking element or winding can make pipes and taps live. A 30 mA RCCB cuts the supply before the shock becomes fatal.
