Cookware compatibility

Infrared cookers do not require magnetic induction cookware. Most flat-bottom pans made from stainless steel, iron, cast iron or aluminium can be suitable. Ceramic and heat-resistant glass cookware should only be used when its manufacturer specifically approves direct stovetop use. For stable, even contact, choose cookware with a flat base and avoid warped pans.

Infrared cooker vs induction cooker

An infrared cooker heats an element beneath the cooking plate, which then transfers heat to the pan. An induction cooker uses a magnetic field and therefore requires compatible magnetic cookware. Infrared offers broader cookware flexibility, but its plate becomes hot and can remain hot after cooking. Induction reacts quickly with compatible pans, though cookware choice is more restricted.

Electricity consumption

The rated maximum is 3500W, or 3.5kW. If the cooker operated continuously at full rated output for one hour, the upper-limit calculation would be 3.5kW × 1 hour = 3.5kWh (3.5 electricity units). Actual consumption varies with the selected level, thermostat cycling, cookware, food quantity and cooking duration. At the same rated-load calculation, 30 minutes at full output is up to 1.75kWh.

Solar and inverter guidance

A 3500W cooking appliance is a substantial electrical load. Do not choose a system by solar-panel wattage alone. The inverter must support the continuous appliance load with suitable headroom, while the battery, cabling, breaker, plug, socket and house wiring must also be correctly rated. Other appliances running at the same time add to the total demand.

Before solar or backup-power use, ask a qualified installer to check the inverter’s continuous AC rating, battery discharge limits, wiring and protection. A small inverter rated close to 3.5kW may not provide adequate margin for continuous full-power cooking.

Safety and care

  • Place the cooker on a stable, dry and heat-resistant surface with adequate ventilation.
  • Use only a correctly rated circuit, plug and socket; avoid undersized extension leads and adapters.
  • Keep children away from the hot plate and heated cookware.
  • The glass surface can remain hot after switch-off. Allow it to cool fully before cleaning or moving.
  • Keep the controls dry and never immerse the appliance in water.
  • Do not use the cooker if its cable, plug or cooking surface is damaged.
  • Follow the supplied manual and consult a qualified electrician if the circuit rating is uncertain.
