YTH HSC8 6-6 Self Adjustable Crimping Plier for compatible 0.25–6mm² bootlace ferrules. Ratcheting square crimper with workmanship guidance.
YTH HSC8 6-6 Self Adjustable Crimping Plier is a ratcheting hand tool for compatible bootlace ferrules and cable-end sleeves from 0.25mm² to 6mm². Its self-adjusting jaw mechanism forms a compact square-style crimp for stranded conductors used in terminal blocks, control panels, distribution boards and compatible equipment wiring.
YTH HSC8 6-6 Self Adjustable Crimping Plier Features
- 0.25–6mm² working range: covers common small and medium ferrule sizes, subject to sleeve compatibility.
- Self-adjusting mechanism: the jaws adapt within the stated range while the user selects the correct ferrule.
- Ratcheting action: helps complete the crimp cycle before normal handle release.
- Square crimp profile: intended for compatible terminal-block and equipment connections.
- Hand-tool format: useful for electricians, panel builders, solar technicians and maintenance teams.
What Terminals Can This Tool Crimp?
The YTH HSC8 6-6 Self Adjustable Crimping Plier is intended for compatible wire-end ferrules, also called bootlace ferrules or cord-end sleeves. These terminals are fitted over stripped flexible conductor strands before insertion into a compatible screw or spring terminal. Ferrules can help keep fine strands together and support repeatable terminal preparation when selected and installed correctly.
The YTH HSC8 6-6 Self Adjustable Crimping Plier is not intended for heavy copper cable lugs, open-barrel automotive terminals, MC4 solar contacts, coaxial connectors or unrelated insulated terminals. Each terminal family requires the correct die shape and compression specification.
Choosing the Correct Ferrule Size
Match the ferrule’s conductor size to the actual cable cross-section. A ferrule that is too large may not grip the conductor correctly, while one that is too small can damage strands or prevent full insertion. Check both the metal sleeve length and the plastic collar dimensions against the terminal and installation space.
Single ferrules are intended for one compatible conductor. Twin ferrules are designed to accept two conductors, but their dimensions differ from standard single ferrules. Do not assume every twin ferrule within the combined conductor area will fit this tool; verify the sleeve dimensions and tool capability.
How to Make a Reliable Ferrule Crimp
- Isolate the circuit and verify the conductor is not energized.
- Confirm the wire, ferrule and terminal block are compatible.
- Cut the conductor cleanly without flattening or damaging strands.
- Strip the insulation to the ferrule manufacturer’s specified length.
- Keep all strands together and insert them fully into the metal sleeve.
- Place the ferrule squarely in the appropriate jaw area.
- Squeeze the handles through the complete ratchet cycle.
- Remove and inspect the finished crimp from every side.
- Perform the required pull check before terminal installation.
Inspecting the Finished Crimp
The conductor should be fully inserted with no loose strands outside the sleeve. The ferrule should have an even compressed profile without splits, severe distortion or exposed strands at the collar. The conductor insulation should reach the collar as intended, while the metal sleeve should remain long enough for full insertion into the receiving terminal.
A hand tug can reveal an obviously loose ferrule, but professional or production work may require a documented pull-force test. Follow the ferrule, terminal and equipment manufacturer’s quality requirements.
Self-Adjusting Does Not Mean Fully Automatic
The jaw mechanism adjusts within its range, but the operator must still choose the correct terminal, strip length and conductor size. The tool cannot identify an incorrect ferrule or prevent every preparation error. Sample crimps should be made and inspected whenever the wire, ferrule brand or size changes.
Do not alter the pressure adjustment unless the tool instructions permit it and the effect can be verified. Excessive compression can crack a sleeve or damage conductor strands, while insufficient compression can create a loose, high-resistance connection.
Control Panels, DBs and Solar Equipment Wiring
The YTH HSC8 6-6 Self Adjustable Crimping Plier may be useful for control wiring in automation cabinets, distribution boards, relays, contactors, terminal blocks and compatible inverter or solar equipment. Ferrules should be used only where the receiving terminal manufacturer permits them. Some clamp designs specify bare stranded conductors or another termination method.

Tool Care and Maintenance
Keep the jaw faces clean and dry. Do not use the tool to cut wire, grip bolts or crimp unsupported terminal types. Inspect the pivot, handles, ratchet, release lever and jaw alignment before work. Remove the tool from service if the jaws are chipped, the handles are cracked or the ratchet releases inconsistently.
Store the crimper in a dry toolbox and protect it from impact and corrosion. For repeated professional use, periodically compare sample crimps with the installer’s workmanship requirements.
Electrical Safety Guidance
Never crimp energized conductors. Isolate all sources, including backup supplies, generators, batteries and solar equipment, then verify dead using appropriate test equipment. After termination, tighten or clamp the ferrule according to the receiving terminal manufacturer’s instructions; a good ferrule crimp cannot compensate for an incorrectly tightened terminal.
